TARGAN is advancing the future of animal health and food production. We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Research Veterinarian with deep expertise in poultry and swine health to join our interdisciplinary team. This role is instrumental in shaping our veterinary strategy, supporting product development, and leading field trials to bring transformative biotechnology solutions to market. You’ll work at the intersection of animal science, biotechnology, and engineering, contributing to our mission of delivering scalable, welfare-conscious solutions that improve food systems worldwide.

🧪 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support field trials and in vivo research focused on poultry and swine health.
  • Provide veterinary oversight, including post-mortem evaluations and trial assessments.
  • Develop and implement research protocols and ensure compliance with USDA regulations and animal welfare standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design and test novel delivery devices for vaccines and biologics.
  • Serve as a veterinary expert in cross-functional teams, offering insight into vaccine strategy and disease prevention.
  • Represent TARGAN at industry conferences and collaborate with academic and commercial partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement in animal welfare, biosecurity, and research ethics (3Rs).
  • Support development of biological assays and contribute to regulatory submissions (e.g., USDA CVB safety/efficacy studies).

🎓 Qualifications

  • DVM from an AVMA-accredited institution; licensed to practice in the U.S.
  • 5–10 years of veterinary experience in poultry or swine, ideally in research or commercial settings.
  • Proven track record in leading animal health studies and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with LIMS, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of infectious diseases, vaccine protocols, and treatment programs in poultry and swine.
  • Strong project leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with budgeting, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder engagement.

🌍 Working Environment & Travel

  • Based in a hybrid flex-space facility (offices, lab, manufacturing floor) and on-site at hatcheries, farms, and other livestock operations.
  • Some travel required for field work, partner visits, conferences, and product launches.
