Job Description
We have an opportunity for a skilled Trust Officer to join a privately held trust company team that boasts a strong reputation for service excellence and community roots. This role is ideal for professionals who thrive on relationship management, estate and trust administration, and providing consistent, reliable guidance to clients and their families during life transitions.
Trust Officers serve as the primary point of contact for clients and beneficiaries across a range of fiduciary relationships, including Personal Trusts, Estates, IRAs, and IMAs. The right candidate brings deep knowledge of estate planning and after-death administration, with a genuine commitment to service and a detail-oriented mindset.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Administer a book of Personal Trusts, IMAs, IRAs, and Estates, serving as the primary contact for client and beneficiary needs
Provide guidance on financial, tax, and estate planning considerations; collaborate with CPAs, attorneys, and external professionals as needed
Lead after-death administration, including communications with beneficiaries, coordination with legal and tax advisors, and ensuring timely task execution
Assist with regulatory and tax-related filings, including 1040/1041 filings, probate inventories, court accountings, and annual reporting requirements
Oversee ILIT (Irrevocable Life Insurance Trust) administration
Support department operations through client service, phone/email response, walk-in coverage, and document delivery
Participate as a voting member of the Trust Investment & Account Review Committee
Seek opportunities to grow the business through relationship expansion and referrals
Uphold fiduciary best practices and contribute to continuous process improvement
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 5 years of experience in trust and estate administration
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the trust, estate, or financial services field
CTFA, CFP, or CPA designation strongly preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Highly organized with strong follow-through and multi-tasking ability
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with trust accounting systems
Knowledge of fiduciary law, estate administration, and tax concepts preferred
Comfortable working in a client-facing role with high sensitivity and discretion
