Job Description

Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Test Lab Manager to oversee strategic and day-to-day operations of our engineering test labs in Keosauqua and Centerville, Iowa (role can be based in either location). This leader will manage lab teams, testing processes, equipment, and infrastructure to support new product development, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.

Job Details:

  • Lead daily lab operations: scheduling, equipment use, technician supervision.
  • Develop and execute test plans to validate product performance and compliance (UL, NSF, DOE, CSA, etc.).
  • Maintain lab certifications and explore additional accreditations (ISO 17025).
  • Manage lab budgets, capital projects, and track operational expenses.
  • Oversee equipment calibration, documentation, and lab asset management.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Product Management, and Sales on test planning and execution.
  • Drive standardization and process improvements across DFR lab sites.
  • Support field issue analysis and technical troubleshooting.
  • Plan for lab growth, new technologies, and future capabilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of engineering experience or 10+ years in refrigeration/HVAC, including 2+ years managing teams.
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies (UL, CSA, NSF, DOE).
  • 5+ years leading technical teams and managing capital projects.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/17025, LabVIEW, MS Project, ANSYS (FEA/CFD), and industry standards (ASHRAE, UL, DOE).
  • Skilled in developing and executing test plans and managing lab infrastructure.
  • Strong communicator with proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with lab process design, regulatory compliance, and test documentation best practices.
