Job Summary:

The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor plays a key role in leading manufacturing operations during a temporary shift expansion. The role oversees production activities to ensure adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and housekeeping objectives. This position emphasizes a hands-on leadership approach, coaching team members, and supporting a People First Culture.

• Key Responsibilities: Lead 1–2 production areas or processes on the 2nd shift in a union/non-union environment
• Supervise and support team members with troubleshooting and process issues
• Coach and develop team members through feedback and performance evaluations
• Enforce safety, quality, and 5S standards, recommending changes where needed
• Support and lead maintenance, continuous improvement, and value stream projects
• Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Address and resolve nonconformance issues in products and processes
• Champion process changes and lead Kaizen or other improvement events
• Implement value stream mapping and create standard work processes
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with company policy
• Shift Details:2nd Shift: 1:30 PM – 9:30 PM
• Supervisors work one hour before and after shift to coordinate with 1st and 3rd shift teams

Qualifications:

• Minimum: High school diploma or GED
• 3+ years of manufacturing experience or equivalent education/experience
• U.S. citizenship required
• Strong willingness to learn
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
• Experience in large product assembly (e.g., motors, vehicles, heavy equipment)
• Automotive assembly background
• Strong job stability with explanations for any short-term employment
• Core Competencies: Effective communication with internal stakeholders
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, procedures, and manuals
• Decision-making within defined guidelines
• Coaching, scheduling, and performance oversight
• Driving process improvements and standard work creation

Working Conditions:

• Physical Demands: Frequent: Standing, walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, typing
• Occasional: Lifting/pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs, fine/manual dexterity
• Mental & Environmental Demands: Frequent: Task changes, analysis, reasoning, sustained focus
• Occasional: Public interaction, deadline pressure, exacting work
• Work Schedule: Routine 2nd shift hours; no overtime or travel expected
