Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Mold Design Engineer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing injection molds, steel stamping dies, and other components. This role requires an understanding of various manufacturing tools and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

Job Description

• This individual will design injection molds, steel stamping dies, progressive dies, fixtures, part modifications, and other designs as needed, including the creation of prints for those tools and the coordination of design reviews with our Engineering Manager and Toolroom lead.
• This individual will be tasked with the design and planning of new End of Arm Tooling for Injection Molding Robots, as well as any other fixtures, tools, or automation may be necessary to automate processes within our facility.
• This individual will be expected to look into budgeting on projects they are working on, including presenting a budget to their supervisor prior to completion of the design and ordering of materials.
• This individual will work closely with toolmakers throughout the design and build process to ensure tooling designs are manufacturable, efficient, and effective. Update tooling designs when changes are made to original design.
• Must perform such other duties as are assigned from time to time.

Requirements

• Must have the ability to read, write and understand English and perform advanced mathematical functions. Must have excellent math skills including trigonometry and geometry. Must have a college or trade school degree (Engineering recommended) or equivalent experience.
• Must be able to manage multiple jobs and priorities. Must be able to develop good working relationships with many people, as interaction with office staff, plant employees, and customers is quite common and important.
• Must be able to design and develop detailed injection mold, stamping die, and fixture drawings from a basic concept through a final dimensioned drawing. Must have working knowledge of compound dies, progressive dies, thermoplastic injection molds, and tooling fixtures.
• Must be able to modify and create part 3D models both from the beginning stages to final part design, including the understanding of how to make a part “mold-able”.
• Must be an independent worker who is capable of creative development in tool design.
• Must have at least a basic knowledge of different tool steels, plastic resins, steel stamping, injection molding, tool building, and machining practices.
• Must be able to and have experience working on CAD equipment with a priority on Solidworks. Must be able to work for extended periods at a computer.
• Must be able to work collaboratively with management, customers, and toolmakers.
