Luna Data Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Information Security Specialist to support our client in the Austin, TX Metropolitan area. This will be a 2 year contract position with possible conversion to permanent worked in a hybrid setting of 2-3 days onsite in Taylor, TX In this critical role, you’ll be responsible for planning, implementing, and managing security measures that protect sensitive organizational data within Microsoft 365 collaboration environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Information Protection: Implement strategies to safeguard sensitive data using Microsoft Purview and related tools.
• Data Loss Prevention (DLP): Create and manage DLP policies to minimize unauthorized sharing and data leaks.
• Data Retention: Define and maintain retention policies to meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Insider Risk Management: Monitor for insider threats and develop mitigation strategies.
• Security Alerts & Activities: Respond to and manage security alerts efficiently.
• Data Classification & Labeling: Develop and maintain classification and labeling strategies for sensitive data.
• IAM for Collaboration Services: Implement identity and access controls for Microsoft 365 collaboration tools.
• Data Security Posture Management: Evaluate and improve the data security posture continuously.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with governance, security, and workload teams to define and implement policies.
• Incident Response: Assist in resolving security incidents and conducting root cause analysis.
• Entra ID Administration: Oversee identity and access governance.
• Exchange Online & On-Prem Management: Manage email systems, SMTP relay, and ensure continuity.
• License Optimization: Track and manage Microsoft license usage and compliance.
• Azure Information Protection: Enforce labeling, classification, and encryption.
• Encryption Management: Apply and oversee encryption solutions, including HSMs (Thales).
• Service Onboarding: Support the integration of new tools and services into the IT ecosystem.
• Service Principal & Managed Identities: Configure and secure service principals and managed identities in Entra.
• Federation Administration: Manage single sign-on and federated identity solutions.
• Business Continuity Planning: Develop and test disaster recovery and service resilience plans.
• End-User Training & Support: Educate users and administrators on best practices and security tools.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive security documentation and incident records.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• 5+ yrs. of experience in Microsoft 365 security and administration.
• 5+ yrs. of experience with Microsoft Purview, Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Exchange On-Premises.
• 5+ yrs. of experience with Azure Information Protection, data encryption, and IAM.
• 5+ yrs. of experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
• 5+ yrs. of experience / familiarity with of security & compliance capabilities across Microsoft 365.
• 5+ yrs. of experience with business continuity and identity federation strategies.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Must be willing and able to work 2-3 days onsite.

• Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert
• Microsoft 365 Certified: Information Protection Administrator Associate
