Job Description

An established and respected organization in the construction and heavy equipment industry is seeking a Benefits Manager to lead and evolve its employee benefits programs. This position plays a vital role in delivering a best-in-class employee experience while ensuring compliance and efficiency across all benefits and leave administration functions.

The successful candidate will have a strong command of benefits operations, a service-oriented mindset, and the ability to navigate complex programs across multiple jurisdictions. This role reports to the Director of HR and collaborates closely with payroll, compliance, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Benefits Operations: Manage the full lifecycle of group benefits offerings, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, voluntary plans, commuter programs, 401(k), and wellness perks.
  • Employee Support: Serve as a trusted resource for benefits-related questions, providing clear and empathetic guidance to employees at all levels.
  • Leave Administration: Administer and monitor employee leaves (FMLA, disability, personal, and statutory), coordinating closely with payroll, insurance carriers, and state agencies.
  • System & Data Integrity: Maintain data accuracy across HR systems and carrier platforms, ensuring all benefits-related records, feeds, and file integrations are current and correct.
  • Compliance & Audits: Stay up-to-date on evolving federal and state regulations affecting benefits programs. Lead compliance efforts, including ACA filings, 401(k) audits, COBRA processes, and required reporting.
  • Billing & Reconciliation: Review and reconcile benefits invoices and internal payroll deductions to ensure consistency and timely vendor payments.
  • Project & Enrollment Support: Drive the planning and execution of Open Enrollment activities, and contribute to broader HR projects as needed.
  • Communication: Partner with HR and internal communications to create and maintain benefit guides, self-service resources, and new program rollouts.

Ideal Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 5-8+ years of progressive experience in benefits or total rewards administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, Section 125, FMLA, ADA, and other benefits-related laws across multiple states.
  • Experience with health plans such as Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Kaiser Permanente or Blue Shield.
  • Proficiency with benefits platforms (e.g., BeneTrac, Workday, ADP, or equivalent HRIS).
  • Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information.
  • Proven ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.

Why This Role?

This is an opportunity to join a growing company that values its people. You’ll be able to shape and improve key benefits processes while supporting a workforce that spans a range of operational, technical, and professional roles.

If you’re passionate about enhancing employee experiences through thoughtful program management and looking for a high-impact role in a dynamic environment, we’d love to connect.
