Description:
The Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of company geographical and spatial data and analysis. The GIS Manager will work with the Director of Development, Director of Real Estate, Director of Environmental Services, and other departments to manage, organize, plan, direct, and execute GIS tasks for renewable energy projects across the country. The position involves coordination with renewable energy developers, real estate and land department, engineers, construction, finance, transmission, asset management, and other groups within the company.
Essential Responsibilities:
The position will be responsible for the following items. Responsibilities may arise beyond this, as necessary for a growing company.
-Plans for and implements all aspects of Company's GIS related projects including facilitating project teams, identifying resources, and establishing project objectives, timelines and milestones and developing standards for GIS development and use.
-Develops standards for GIS deployment and use within the Company, and ensures quality levels and deadlines are met.
-Ensures timely implementation of GIS-related projects.
-Understand emerging GIS technology and their application to improve Company processes and make decisions concerning GIS technologies as they apply to the Company.
-Analyze complex problems, evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.
-Provide or assist Company staff with GIS training and technical support. Explain GIS-related technical issues and concepts to non-technical staff.
-Maintains expert knowledge and experience with GIS industry principles and best practices.
-Knowledge of renewable energy construction process, real estate development, renewable energy projects/assets evaluation and acquisition.
-Manages GIS consultants to ensure GIS project objectives and timelines are met.
Required Skills/Experience
Desired candidate will have the following skills or experience:
-Bachelor of Science in Geography, Cartography, Computer Science, or related field with concentration in GIS; or GIS Certificate.
-Masters or advanced degree preferred.
-5+ years of progressive experience in GIS environment, specifically ESRI ArcGIS Online platform.
-Familiarity with renewable energy industry including development, construction, and asset management.
-Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.
-Well-developed leadership and project management skills.
-Ability to multitask and work with multiple stakeholders.
-Ability to operate in ambiguous situations.
-Able to make recommendations with incomplete information.
-Strong team player.
Salary: $80,000/ year DOE
Location: Boulder, CO or Denver, CO
