Job Summary:

Our client is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to serve as Detention Officers. This position offers an opportunity to maintain public safety by overseeing the custody, care, and control of incarcerated individuals. Detention Officers play a crucial role in ensuring the security and order of detention facilities while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Arizona driver’s license upon hire.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, including criminal history and drug screening.
• Ability to complete required training programs, including the Detention Academy.

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and exercise sound judgment in high-pressure situations.
• Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
• Physical fitness and ability to perform duties that may require lifting, standing, and responding to physical confrontations.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and procedures governing detention operations.

Minimum Physical Readiness Standards

• Push-Ups (Max Repetitions): Minimum of 11 (measuring upper body endurance).
• Sit-Ups (1 Minute) : Minimum of 16 (measuring abdominal endurance).
• 1.5-Mile Run : Minimum completion time of 21:48 minutes (measuring aerobic power).
• 300-Meter Run : Minimum completion time of 1:37 minutes (97 seconds) (measuring anaerobic power).
• Bench Press (1 Repetition): Minimum of 90 lbs. or 53% of body weight , whichever is less (measuring upper body strength).
• Illinois Agility Run: Minimum completion time of 22.6 seconds (measuring agility and coordination).
• Vertical Jump : Minimum of 11 inches (14 inches if measured with VERTEC) (measuring explosive leg strength).
