Primary Purpose:
To ensure increased student achievement and improved classroom instruction at the two K-8 campuses they serve. Deans will work with the coaching team (dean/ICs) in collaboration with the campus administrators to ensure a systematic approach to teacher coaching and implementation of the ILTexas curriculum, program model (including learning acceleration).

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Management
1. Assist the principal(s) in developing, maintaining, and using information systems to maintain record and track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicators.
2. Interpret academic data for the purpose of improving student performance (and language acquisition).
3. Identify, apply and monitor research based instructional interventions (and language scaffolds) based on student data to promote school effectiveness.
4. Utilize data-driven decision making in the evaluation of target academic programs.
5. Implementation of the ILTexas approved instructional programs (by content area)
6. Account for the accuracy and verification of all student program data and reports.
7. Conduct instructional observations, record observations, and conduct conferences with staff that result in diagnostic and prescriptive feedback for growth and improved performance.
8. Lead the coaching team in aligning teacher coaching around high leverage action steps (Get Better Faster) and subsequent documentation (SchoolMintGrow).
9. Lead the implementation of effective professional learning communities (intellectual preparation protocol/ lesson plan internalization & bite-sized differentiated professional development).
10. Facilitate teacher implementation of concepts and content in all instructional areas.
11. Implement and evaluate professional development activities to support the ILTexas mission and any specific campus action steps (ILTexas aligned targeted improvement plans).
12. Monitor and model instructional processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes.
13. Collaborate consistently with campus and district personnel to maintain and improve instructional programs and priorities.
14. Assist faculty and staff in identifying, defining, and solving instructional related problems.
15. Promote the infusion of technology in the learning process.
16. Work with the ILTexas content experts & campus staff to to ensure teachers have instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.
17. Foster collegiality and team building among staff members; encourage their active involvement in decision-making process around campus and teacher action steps aligned with the ILTexas program model.
School/Organizational Improvement
18. Work with the campus administrators at the campuses they serve to promote a positive, caring learning environment.
19. Promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students; recognize excellence and achievement.
Personnel Management
20. Will supervise the coaching team serving the two K-8s (math instructional coach and reading instructional coach), hosting weekly cabinet meetings while providing feedback directly to the campus administrators (at least once weekly) of progress made on the assigned scope of work.
21. Supervise the scope of work under learning acceleration (giving priority to the ILTexas WIN (What I Need) and supporting the effective execution of learning acceleration during 10th period Enrichment and Remediation (ER) time. Will provide the campus guidance on priority candidates for summer school and learning acceleration that takes place during summer school.
22. Manage and utilize data effectively for systemic process and program analysis.
23. Implement data-driven decision making for improvement efforts based on best practices anchored in the ILTexas Get Better Faster scope and sequence.
24. Manage and utilize policy effectively for maintaining systemic processes and practices.
25. Account for the verification of the correct policy regarding all decisions and correspondence. 26. Implement effective policy-driven decision making.
27. Assist the principal in communicating needs with area or headquarters subject matter experts.
School/Community Relations
28. Deal sensitively and fairly with persons from diverse cultural backgrounds.
29. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and patrons.
30. Participate in the development of the tiering of teachers and coordination of teaching coaching (maintaining the teacher coaching roster which is shared with campus administrators).
31. Confer with staff regarding their professional growth, assisting them to develop goals.
32. Implement and monitor activities to ensure successful student transitions.
33. Serve as a liaison for students who are academically at-risk.
34. Interact effectively with students to promote positive attitudes towards school programs.
35. Articulate the school’s mission to community and solicit its support in realizing goals.
36. Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs. 37. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage parent and community involvement.

38. Under the direction/guidance from the area academic director, stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality professional learning opportunities for personal growth.
39. Demonstrates proficient levels of ILTexas technology applications.
40. As needed, participates fully in drills and safety exercises to provide for the safety and overall emotional wellbeing of students.
41. Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
42. Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
43. Meet task completion deadlines established by the supervisor (area academic director).
44. Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.
45. Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.
46. Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal). 47. Any and all other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor.
